A Different Perspective
a scene from my WIP seen through different eyes
I’ve spent the past few weeks showing y’all my new publishing imprint, Shldbwriting Publishing Company, and some of what I’ve been building. But before anything else, I am an author—without that, the imprint has no reason to exist. My current WIP, Once Upon a Time in Iowa, is a YA historical romance set in 1871 and rooted in my own genealogy. I’m writing my 4th‑great‑grandparents’ love story—long forgotten, but almost certainly beautiful.
Once Upon a Time in Iowa follows Mary Cardelia Hecox as she falls in love with Jesse Messer. I have for y’all a moment from the novel as seen through Jesse’s eyes—one Mary experienced quite differently.
Read on for a behind-the scenes look into my current work-in-progress.
